On the 3rd of January 2020 we were asked to give a detailed roof inspection to find where possible leaks are located.
The Thomas Paine Hotel Thetford became a hotel in 1973 & has many detailed junctions in the roof line which is ideal for a Roof Inspection Case Study.
We cordoned off our inspection area with cones, completed our safety checks before take-off and put the people in the vicinity under our control.
With the camera white balance set we proceeded to take a series of images in a back and forth grid to cover all angles of this detailed roof inspection.
We had a clear day which made the Roof Inspection easier, as when in the tight spaces the wind vortexes where low, enabling a closer look at the roof tiles & chimney
After a while we made our way round to the back of the structure and identified two places which needed attention.
The first show in the image above shows the chimney stack had cracked along the long edge, through investigation and probing we finally find the problems.
The image above shows shoddy tiling and on closer inspection found a nail driven into the roof felt causing the hotel roof to leak. A report was compiled & sent to the hotel owner who subsequently booked in a roofing team to repair the two points we identified.
Roof inspections using a drone or UAV, is a replacement for traditional scaffolding, which is time consuming & expensive to say the least. We can inspect multiple roofs at varying locations in one day compared with one maybe two using traditional methods.
A detailed roof inspection can take a few hours compared to days with minimal expense. This is the way forward in terms of work flow time and cost.
The key to avoiding major roof damage is early detection, and with aerial roof inspection case study from Drone Imagery Ltd you can be assured that we will find any problems or potential issues that you may have.
